Vintage Group

The group of all assets that are placed in service in the same year regardless of their differences in service life.

For example:

  • All the assets installed in a building constructed in 1997 have the same vintage group of 1997.
  • All assets replaced in 2003 belong to that vintage group.
Vintage groups are used to develop survivor curves.

The concept is complicated by the fact that chronological age of some assets may not match their effective age.
