Longitudinal Study
A research study that involves repeated observations of the same variables over long periods of time — often many decades.

Any study that attempts to estimate the service lives of assets, many of which have service lives of 10, 20, 30 year or more, is a longitudinal study.

Longitudinal studies utilize statistics and actuarial principles to develop lifecycle models.
