Deterioration Rate

The pace at which an asset degrades over time under normal operating conditions. An expression of the durability and robustness of an asset.

From the moment assets are placed in service, they start to deteriorate.  


Types of Deterioration Rates
The rate of deterioration is presented graphically on a performance curve (survivor curve) where the slope of the curve indicates the rate. 


Measurement of Deterioration Rate
Quantification and objective measurement of the deterioration rate can be analyzed through a variety of means, including:
