Abandonment
Decommissioning an unusable asset in place.

For example:
  • Cleaning and filling an underground tank with an inert material rather than the removal of the underground tank.
  • During a domestic water repiping project, the old pipes may be left in place and new pipes installed in the same wall cavities.
